2020: Decontaminating ATM Machines
Since April, 2020 decontamination crews have been cleaning ATM machines on a regular basis. Sometimes 24/7, every 30 minutes However, even this rigid cleaning program, only proved successful when performed after EVERY customer interaction - which was not possible.
Cleaning crew members also had to adorn: masks, shoe-covers, and special clothing that covered their entire bodies, from head to foot. To protect them from catching the COVID-19 virus.
The same needed decontamination process is also needed for public payphones.

But just like Public Telephones, ATM Keypads are a hotbed for spreading viruses. Scientists have found that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes...
COVID-19 can be detected on plastic and stainless steel surfaces for up to three days.
2021: ATM Machines Decontaminate Themselves
Anti-COVID-19 ATM Machine
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the continuing need for ATM services, we have teamed up with North Star to provide Alaskan rural communities an ATM that kills up to 99 percent of viruses and bacteria automatically, between each customer, within seconds!
Seconds after each customer transaction, this ATM automatically disinfects the surface of the keypad that users touch to help mitigate the spread of viruses and bacteria. Using an array of UV-C lights through a process that does not expose users to the light, but sterilizes the keypad. ATM also protects users from moving parts via a torque-sensitive mechanism that stops and restarts the process if any interruption or blockage occurs.
We are helping North Star set up “Anti-COVID-19 ATM Machines” throughout Alaska’s villages.
See map below (dated March 2021):

Alaska Daily News - March 2, 2021
Alaska is in the highest alert category based on the current per capita rate of infection, and public health officials continue to encourage Alaskans to keep up with personal virus mitigation efforts like hand-washing, mask-wearing and social distancing. A highly contagious variant of the virus reached Alaska last month.
As you know, besides making their owners steady income, ATMs provide communities the following valuable services:
handing cash to buyers, so they can buy more.
providing cardholders they bank account balances.
automatically transporting and depositing cash into your bank account.
But just like Public Telephones, ATM Keypads are a hotbed for spreading viruses. Scientists have found that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, can be detected on plastic and stainless steel surfaces for up to three days.
These findings emphasize the importance of cleaning ATM keypads between every customer, and since ATM keypads are commonly destroyed by hand disinfecting with soap and water, and since your community needs the services ATMs offer, we believe that your community needs the ATM offered below.
Alaska State is sending out hundreds of more testing machines to the hub community of Bethel, with another 25,000 scheduled to be distributed in rural areas in the weeks ahead. At the time of this email, more than 40 communities in Alaska are either on strict lockdown or advised to be on one.
Denali ATM is here to help.
We are a 27-year-old, Anchorage company, and
We have hundreds of clients, statewide.
We service more Alaskan communities IN-PERSON than anyone else.
Anti-COVID-19 ATM Machine
Our ATMs are designed for indoor, dusty, hot & cold environments, and they are made to handle years of constant usage. Our ATM’s are built strong, and can be bolted down. Our machines are new, with factory warranty. You’re provided with factory technical phone support along with our local tech’s phone support for almost 24/7 assistance.
Because every ATM deposit and withdrawal is documented and stored off-site, you can easily look to see how much money is still in the machine, and how much profit you’ve made so far this month and year. And in case the ATM is ever broken into or stolen, your business insurance should cover the ATM, and money replacements. So, our ATMs are a very secure, effortless way to help your customers - while making money on every transaction.
We can have your bank either automatically, or when requested by you, safely send more money to you for the ATM. Most ATM owners also take the $20-bills from their till each day and place them into the ATM, so that they don't need to order as much money.

Benefits of Buying a machine from Denali ATM
Buying and owning an ATM Machine will not get you rich quick, but it is a good way to produce semi-passive income. The Genmega 2500 series ATM machines have a life expectancy of around 7 to 10 years, which for the ATM industry is excellent. Genmega's also keep their resale value. They cost just a few hundred dollars more than some other manufacturers, but for maintenance and term of life in Alaska, it is hard to beat a Genmega 2500 ATM. These ATMs should easily pay for themselves in a relatively short period of time if put in the right location.
Recently ATM life expediencies has been further reduced because of the industries ever-changing and increasing required safety-upgrade features. Before you buy an AM, make sure they're made by a company that usually comes up with the needed upgrades for ATM's in the field, instead of having to buy a new compliant ATM.
We also strongly recommend the Hantle ATM's for Alaska, as they are very reliable with histories of being trouble free. This ATM machine along with the before mentioned Genmega ATM offer the best values for owner operator ATM installations in Alaska.
A good quality outdoor through-the-wall ATM unit usually costs more than twice what a indoor, free-standing ATM machine costs, so for most applications, choosing one of the above mentioned indoor, free-standing ATM machines is usually the best choice.
You can call our Anchorage office for additional advice, or look at our ATM page for more information on the ATM machine that we have come to know as the best ATM for Alaskan installs.
